About the Firm

Founded in 2009, grown to 35 professionals. The same personal attention at every stage.

Our History

Richard Prescott and Catherine Lansbury founded the firm in 2009 with a straightforward thesis: that mid-size businesses and individuals deserve sophisticated legal counsel without the overhead, bureaucracy, and impersonal service of large firms.

They started with three attorneys in a small office on Congress Street. Richard brought a litigation practice honed through a federal clerkship and years of complex commercial trial work. Catherine brought an estate planning practice built on deep relationships with high-net-worth families and the trust officers who served them.

The firm relocated to 250 Federal Street in 2013 and has grown deliberately — adding practice areas only when the right attorney was available to lead them. Thomas Brennan brought corporate from Ropes & Gray in 2014. Margaret Hsu followed with real estate the same year. Amara Osei built the IP practice starting in 2016.

Today the firm has 20 attorneys and 35 total staff, generating over $9 million in revenue across 14 industry sectors. We remain a single-office firm by design — every partner is in the same building, accessible to every client.

How We Work

Client Relationships

We maintain a 92% client retention rate because we treat every engagement as the beginning of a long-term relationship, not a one-off transaction. Partners remain directly involved in every matter — you won't be handed off to a junior attorney after the pitch.

Every engagement begins with a clear scope letter detailing the work, the fee arrangement, the attorneys involved, and what you can expect at each stage. No surprises, no scope creep without discussion.

Technology & Operations

We've been cloud-first since 2015, using Clio for practice management and NetDocuments for document management. In 2024, we deployed AI-assisted legal research tools alongside our existing Westlaw Edge and LexisNexis subscriptions.

Security is a priority: CrowdStrike EDR on all endpoints, multi-factor authentication everywhere, AES-256 encryption at rest, and TLS 1.3 in transit. We treat your confidential information with the same rigor we bring to our legal work.

Community Commitment

Every attorney at the firm contributes a minimum of 50 pro bono hours annually. We formalized our pro bono program in 2018 and credit up to 100 hours for bar association leadership, speaking, publishing, mentoring, and community service.

Our partners hold leadership positions in the Boston Bar Association (Board of Directors), Boston Estate Planning Council (Past President), and Boston Patent Law Association (Vice President). We believe that strengthening the legal profession strengthens the community we serve.
